What Causes Dark Skin Under The Lips?

dark line underneath bottom lip? i first noticed it last december, there was a bunch of white looking old skin bunched up together underneath my bottom lip so i used a scrub to remove it then it began to burn and left a dark horizontal line maybe a few centimeters long. Every now and then the skin reappears and i use wait for it to peel off then i put lotion on it , only for it to burn again. what is it?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dark skin under the lips which could be because of Melasma or hyperpigmentation of skin in which some part of skin becomes darker than other areas of skin. Use of chemicals or creams rich in steroids causes hyperpigmentation. It occurs because of higher hormonal levels or increase of estrogen in women. I would suggest to avoid exposure to sun rays and if she has to go out side cover her face. Azelaic acid cream causes lightening of spots. Hydroquinone is quite effective as it blocks natural melanin formation. Use TAN CARE or sunscreen rich in SPF 30. Combination of cucumber and lemon juice is very effective natural treatment remedy. Your symptoms will start resolving in 7-10 days. If your symptoms keeps on persisting then visit dermatologist for this, as then more intensive treatment like micro abrasion, laser therapy can be considered as treatment option.
