Hi. I have a dark spot on my tonsil and my throat has been sore for 3 days. I have been congested so I thought maybe it was sore due to congestion. What could the black spot be? I usually get strep very easily. But I've never seen a black spot. Usually white ones. Do u know what the black spot could be?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems that you have a viral throat infection leading to sore throat, congestion and dark spot on tonsils..
Nothing to worry about it as viral infection runs its course and can resolve on its own after 4 to 5 days or a week. For symptomatic relief you can take antibiotic Augmentin for preventing secondary bacterial infection. Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen for relief from pain and inflammation. Chew Vitamin C pellet daily. Avoid spicy and hard foods. Do steam inhalations.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
