What Causes Dark Stool While Suffering From Constipation?
Hi, the last few days I have been constipated with very dense and long bowel movements. It has been painful to pass and sometimes took a few trips to the bathroom. I have been very tender.
Today I had great difficulty clearing my system. After a day of frequent and painful trips to the bathroom I finally passed my bowel movement. A lot of mass, very long, thick consistency. The color was brown but I noticed dark spots throughout. Is that blood? It is different then the light red I sometime get in the toilet water after tearing. Any ideas?

Yes, it could be blood signifying an upper GI bleed either from gastritis or a peptic ulcer.
It could also be a diverticulitis problem.
You need both an upper endoscopy and a colonoscopy to check this out
