What Causes Dark Urine Post Metformin Withdrawal?

I was just diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and am taking Metformin. I was taking 4 500 mg. at dinner. After about a week, I vomited twice and stopped taking the Metformin. My urine is darker than usual and I was told I was probably dehydrated. However, it s been 6 days and I m trying to drink 64 ounces of water - that seems to lighten it but it goes back to dark.

* As per my surgical experience, the Metformin withdrawal is not responsible for the urine darkness.
* There seems to be urinary infection, alterations in sugar levels, urine pH or others which should be checked with a urine microscopy report.

You should have a urinalysis performed. A dark colored urine may be caused by many things. Dehydration seems likely.
