What Causes Darkened Irregular Area On The Lower Leg?

i had a bruised/darkened irregular area 2 " w x 3" long appear on my lower leg, just over my chin bone. Did not bump it, it does not hurt, no bite marks, began light, darkened quite quickly and remains 2 days with not apparent change. 63 yr. old healthy, active female, still feeling fine...don't bruise easily
