What Causes Darkening Of Eyelid After Bumping Head On Glass?
Hi. I walked into a slider glass door Thursday night and hit my head pretty hard. I thought it was open and it was not. I got a nice egg on it but no other symptoms. It hurt obviously. Today I noticed a little darkening by my eye lid. Is that common 5 days later?
Darkening of the eye lid following an injury or trauma to the head or forehead area is called as black eye. Black eyes are the result of blunt injuries that cause bleeding beneath the thin eyelid skin, producing the characteristic black and blue discoloration. Most of the times may be nothing to worry about and might disappear on its own in a few days. A fracture deep inside the skull can also blacken both eyes, even though the eye area itself was not injured. If the darkening persists even after few days it is advisable to consult a neurologist.
