Hello, For about 9 months now I've been noticing a lot of build of dead skin on my scalp that only comes off if I scratch it but i can never get it all off. I was my hair once a day and it doesn't go way. Is there something that can treat/cure my build up?
I understand your concern for the dead skin on scalp. As I gone through your query I can get that you have the problem of excessive dandruff also known as Pityriasis capitis.
Our skin daily gets renewed bu ton scalp because of presence of hair, there is a heap of dead skin built up. This dead skin is perceived as dandruff.
Sometimes there is another condition known as seborrhea of scalp where there is redness and severe itching is present on the scalp.
For the confirmation of one or the above you can meet a dermatologist and get the best advice.
In my patients with your kind of problem I suggest them to wash the scalp daily with an anti-dandruff shampoo such as ketoconazole or sertaconazole.
IN more severe cases coal tar or salycilic acid preparations are used.
DO not apply any oil on scalp as it increases the tendency for dandruff.
Hope it helps.
