What Causes Dead Skin On The Inside Of The Mouth?

i have dead skin on the inside of my mouth on the right side. it showed up yesterday morning. it doesnt hurt, but it feels like it isnt clean, or its just dead skin. i am pregnant, could this be why? i stick my finger and rub it around in that area and pull it out and it has a whole bunch of white dead skin like stuff. its gross.
