I had an abortion june 5th and didn t bleed after the procedure. I spotted brown maybe 1 1/2 days very lightly then nothing maybe a few days after and had extremly bad cramps about 4 days after for about a day. My husband and I were devestated and felt guilty I might not get another chance so we decided to try again regretting the abortion so two weeks after the abortion we decided to try and see. It s now 4 1/2 weeks after my abortion and I still haven t got my period.. I m very moody, my boobs are hurting more and more every day, i have light cramping every now and then but nothing. i took a pregnancy test it said negative. I did go 14 days after my abortion for a follow up and the doctor said i was fine. Could i be pregnant or will I be getting my period soon? Im worried.
Normal ovulation usually resumes after a miscarriage or abortion within 4 to 6 weeks, as it takes that long for a women to ovulate again. The small amount of bleeding after the procedure does not count as a menstrual cycle.
Normally, a pregnancy test will become positive 10 days to 2 weeks after conception, so if 2 weeks have passed and your pregnancy test is negative, it is most likely your symptoms are due to PMS rather than pregnancy.
In general, doctors advise waiting until you have a real period after losing a pregnancy to start trying again for this exact reason- so it can be clear when you conceived if you get pregnant again right away. But at this time, there is no reason to assume you are pregnant.
I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that this information was reassuring.
