What Causes Delay In Period?

I am a 50 year old woman with mild cramping but no period. . . about one month late and not pregnant. My hormone level came back normal. Is there any reason for concern, or am I just beginning the stages of menopause? My periods used to come every 28 days; for the past six months they have been coming every 23 days.
