Hi there,
After going through your question, I am of the opinion that:
1) Unprotected sex can surely cause pregnancy, but discharging sperms outside reduces the chances. However, this is not a sure-shot method of contraception as the pre-ejaculate also contains some sperms which can make you pregnant.
2) You have missed a period but home test is negative, so you might not be pregnant.
3) The delay could be because of anxiety about getting pregnant too.
4) My suggestion is that you wait for 3 more days and repeat the home pregnancy test. If that is negative, you can wait for your periods for a few more days.
5) Another option is to get a blood test called serum beta HCG which is more accurate in diagnosing early pregnancy.

I hope this was helpful.
Regards,
Dr. Shikha
