Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You seemed to be quite confused due to some misunderstandings and some mess up in your sexual relations. Let me clarify the issues one by one.
1. Since you had taken
emergency contraceptive pill (I believe so. There is no mention in your history, which pill.) after first intercourse in the last cycle, this intercourse is protected against the
pregnancy.
2. However, your next intercourse which you have performed after taking the pill is not protected. Though he has ejaculated outside the vagina, you cannot guarantee about the preseminal secretions (precum). These secretions are deposited in the vagina unknowingly. Precum does contain some sperms which can fertilize the egg.
3. Few days after the emergency pills, some amount of bleeding does occur. You had experienced such bleeding. Not an issue of concern.
4. The menses following the emergency pills can get delayed by few days to a week or so. However, you had an
unprotected intercourse after the pill. Hence you have to look for the possibility of pregnancy. Pregnancy test has given you negative results; however the million dollar question is - when did you do it? These tests may report false negative results if performed too early.
So now to sort out this matter, either you may repeat the test after 4 days again or opt for
Beta hCG test. This will resolve your dilemma. And finally, please understand that:
1. Post coital emergency contraceptive pill can prevent pregnancy only if taken within 72 hours of the unprotected sex. Any sexual intercourse after the consumption of the pill is not protected from that pill; in such event, another pill has to be take.
2. You are a married woman; hence are engaged in regular sexual relations. Emergency contraceptive pills, as the name indicates are to be taken for emergency contraceptive use. They are not advised for regular use. I would advise you to adapt some regular routine contraceptive like condom (male or female),
oral contraceptive pills or
intrauterine device like Copper T.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
