What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?

Hi I am a 29 year old woman. My period is now 4 days late. I ve been experiencing pregnancy related symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, tingling nipples, headaches, and had muscus like discharge 1 day ago. My doctor performed a blood test about 5 days ago and the HCG results were negative 6. Are there any other reasons for my missed period and symptoms? The first day of my last menstral was November 23, 2016. Could this be menopause? Btw I am not trying to get pregnant.

Hi,

Blood HCG was negative, rule out pregnancy. Following are other cause of delayed period and your symptoms:

- Menopause is not occur at age of 29. Hormonal imbalance, endometriosis, adenomyosis, thyroid dysfunction, ovarian dysfunction.

- If period will not occur in next 7 days then I would suggest to undergo reproductive and thyroid hormone analysis, USG scan, ovarian follicle study by consulting gynecologist to confirm cause.

Specific treatment depend on cause. Period can be induced by progesterone pill. Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water, do regular exercise.

Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar

hello...
thanks for trusting the healthcare magic doctors for ur health related queries.

i guess ur concern is about causes of delay in menses despite of upt is negative...right.

firstly I want to tell u that..RELAX..NOTHING GOES WRONG. sometimes it happens without any causes.but u didn't tell me that it's a first time that ur period is delayed or it happens in past for many times.so it's difficult for me to comment on this.
irregular menses are very common in reproductive age group(it is from 15-45 years). as u told that u r 28 year old. so DON'T WORRY.

secondly let us discuss about ur symptoms(fatigue, nausea, tingling in nipples, headache and mucus like discharge). this type of symptoms also occurs before menses has come, it is called Pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS). some women have this. but NOTHING TO WORRY...RELAX, EVERY PROBLEM HAVE SOLUTION.

with above discussion u can try out my suggestions-
1. if u r still worried about that u have pregnancy then repeat the upt again. if it is negative then nothing to worry, wait for the mense to come. if it not come then visit to nearby gynecologist.he/she can help u.if it is positive then ur gynecologist also helps you in that situation also.
2. the symptoms told by u can relieved with the medications. in this case ur treating gynecologist also helps you.

I hope the above information is useful, informative and helpful for u.

regards- Dr sudha rani panagar
( i can understand ur tense-full situation, don't worry..KEEP PATIENCE. u will be alright)
