What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?
So my boyfriend and I never have protected sex and my last period was from the 14th of January until the 20th. I was supposed to ovulate the 27th but I didn t I know that by several negative ovulation test. But I have had some spotting and slightly cramps. Could I be pregnant?
Hello, Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. If you have always had regular monthly cycles, a missed period is most likely to be due to pregnancy. Ovulation kits do not show ovulation; they only show the spike in LH that occurs before ovulation and hence do not detect the exact time of ovulation. It can happen up to 30-36 hours after the LH surge. Please go for a HPT if you are a week delayed; else, you can go for the estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres. If negative, the spotting could mean a breakthrough bleeding or an impending period. If positive, implantation bleeding or a threatened abortion should be suspected and managed accordingly. Hope this helps.
