What Causes Delay In Periods, Mood Swings And Weight Gain Despite On Birth Control Pill?

So I have had my birth control implant for over a year now, and I didn't have my period for a while, jow have had them for about 5 months. But I missed my period. I'm almost a month late and I've been very moody, tired, loss of appetite, gaining weight. Am I pregnant??

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. As you have protected cycles, it is unlikely that there could be a failure. However, when there is weight gain while on hormone contraception, the requirement of the hormone dose is increased and this can lead to failure/hormone imbalances/menstrual disturbances etc. In the current scenario, you can get clarification through an estimation of the serum beta-hCG to confirm/exclude pregnancy and plan further management. Hope this helps.
