Hi,
If you have started your birth control pills from the second day of your menstrual cycle, you are well protected against the
pregnancy. However, if you started them late, this cycle,
contraception cannot be guaranteed. Usually after completion of the active pills from the pack, the menstrual bleeding appears within 4-7 days. If you have changed the brand of the pills, the interval period between the completion of pills and withdrawal bleeding may vary.
I would advise you to wait for 4 days more. If still you do not get the menses, then you may confirm the pregnancy status by:
1. Pregnancy test on overnight first morning urine sample.
2. Alternatively you may opt for
Beta hCG pregnancy test. If you are not pregnant and still fail to get menses, please report to your gynecologist.
I hope this resolves your dilemma. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nishikant Shrotri
