What Causes Delay In Periods?

I was on birth control for five years. I no longer take it as of July 2010. I had my period last month August 17th and it lasted seven days. Now this month I have not had it. I have taken pregnancy test and they are negative. Is it normal for this to happen?

Hi there, I have understood your concern. I wwill suggest you the best possible treatment options.

1 ) First of all do not panic.

2 ) As you have mentioned that your urine pregnancy test is negative, you need not worry.

Sometimes, due to hormonal changes or due to absence of egg formation, your Cycle can be delayed.

3 ) As your pregnancy test is negative, you can simply wait for the onset of periods or induce the periods with progesterone tablets. Your treating doctor can guide you further about the doses and withdrawal bleeding of the same.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
Dr. Purushottam Neurgaonkar.
