What Causes Delay In Periods?

I havent had a period since September 1st but even then I only bleed a little and not even a whole day since then its been 41 days and nothing I feel like I could be pregnant but I had my tubes tied after my son was born April 2009 and I took a test last night and it was negative...could I be pregnant?
