What Causes Delayed Menstruation When Pregnancy Test Shows Negative Result?
Hello, a friend of mine has missed her period as of November 20th 2015. Today is November 27 and it has still not come. She has experienced cramps after intercourse. And has also taken a pregnancy test that shows negative. What could be the causes of the period this late? She s also had just random cramps as if there was a period but there is no blood.
I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.
Its normal to get ur periods delayed by 3-4 days. If it's more than a week, it might be due to many conditions like pregnancy, stress, low birth weight, obesity, PCOS etc. I advice you to, - Do serum beta HCG test which is more reliable than HPT to rule out pregnancy. - YOGA & stress free exercises. - Take nutritious diet, iron & calcium supplements - Antispasmodics for cramps - Check Hemoglobin levels & Thyroid function test. - watch for next cycle. If same problem persist consult your gynaecologist for further assistance.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
