What Causes Delayed Period Post Dengue While Experiencing Lower Abdominal Pain?
Hi. My last cycle was on 11th september and after that I had dengue fever from 19th September and got admitted in the hospital on 23rd. Now I have recovered from dengue but haven t got my periods (it s 20th October already) but I m having pain in my lower abdomen since last week. Is this after effects of dengue or should I consult with my gynaecologist?
After dengue fever you may get irregular menses with sometime heavy bleeding. Dengue causes dysfunction of platelets. Take homemade balanced nutritious diet. Take multivitamin supplements. Take plenty of water, stay at rest, do not miss meals. In a couple of weeks, you should get periods. Your menstruation cycle should get normalized after 1-2 cycles.
Get test for HB% and platelet count done. With low platelet count, anemia, the bleeding tendency increases, you may get heavy periods. Avoid stress, get your hormonal balance checked.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
