What Causes Delayed Periods After Taking Medication For Endemetriosis?
Hi Doctor,
I had taken lupride depot 3.7mg on july17th for endemetriosis then i got periods on july25 itself. but after that i havn't periods till date may i know the reason please. I am trying for pragnancy and egarly waiting for periods....
Lupride injection lowers the estrogen levels usually, and may lead to anovulation and absence of menstrual periods sometimes. Once the drug effect is completed, you may get your periods, it may take one or two months after stopping the drug. Endometriosis can affect the chances of fertility by leading to adhesions between reproductive organs. By using lupride, severity of endometriosis can be decreased.
So, you better continue the medicine till the time prescribed by your doctor. Once the severity of the endometriosis is decreased you can stop the lupride and may get periods soon. Then you can plan for pregnancy with your doctor's advice.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
