What Causes Delayed Periods, Leaking After Sex, Trouble Eating?

I have not had a period for seven months. I leak after sex (i think urine). I am not pregnant. I'm 36 and have had five kids. I have put on weight due to back surgery a year ago. I'm having trouble feeling like eating, and get full easily. I'm scared.

Hello,

You have not mentioned anything about your past illness or whether you are on Implanon or any other contraceptive device or CP. You have a history of not having periods since seven months, you say you are not pregnant. The cause of secondary amenorrhea are hormone shots, birth control methods, hormonal imbalance, anemia, PCOS, underweight, poor nutrition or obesity, uterine adhesions, cysts, etc.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist, get USG (Uterus) along with CBC, urinalysis and other required Imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing your symptoms. You will be treated for hormonal imbalance with synthetic / supplemental hormones, if it is adhesions / cysts, your treating doctor shall remove it (by surgery). You can take antacids & PPI's to feel better. Take small meals multiple times a day. To prevent bloating, stay active and well hydrated.

Take food that is easily digestible or take digestives. Avoid constipation, take laxatives at bed time. Take home made nutritious food. If required your gynecologist may refer you to a Urologist. Do regular exercise, maintain healthy weight.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
