What Causes Delayed Periods?

Hi, I am on the contraceptive pill and am on my last day of my pill-free week but have still not had my period. I have not missed any pills but have taken 3 packets back to back. I do have slight stomach cramps but I am worried as normally always have a period in my week break!

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

1. Working of pills depends on many factors-like the timing of pill intake, associated any nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, antibiotics as these factors affect the drug effectiveness
2. Do a pregnancy test
3. If it’s negative, nothing to worry continue your pills as per previous regime
4. Keep a look for those factors affecting drug effectiveness

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prathiksha, OB & GYN Specialist
