Hi doctor, My LMP was 29/5 n I tested for pregnancy 1st on 2/6 n again after 7days.it came negative. On 2/6 I was active with my partner bt the condom broke. So I took emergency contraceptive within 12hrs. I thought my periods were delayed because of that. But recently I started developing pregnancy symptoms. I tested for it again today n it came positive with slight pink line. I am confused as that was not the viable period n for extra precautions I took ipill as well. In if it had happened during the viable period itselfthen why the symptoms showed up so late?
Hello, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Firstly, you did not have to take an emergency pill as you were just past your expected period and with regular cycles, cannot expect any ovulation so soon. Also, home pregnancy tests read well 3-7 days after a missed period when done with a fresh early morning sample of urine. Since you already missed your period before you took the pill, this means conception had already occurred. Now, you should clinically confirm the pregnancy and decide whether to continue since you have taken the pill, with the help of an expert. A trans-vaginal sonogram should be done to know the situation. Hope this helps.
