What Causes Delayed Reactions To Pain?

Hello...My name is Ashlea Kemp. I am tipping over 224 lbs and am 5'8. I have had basically harmed myself since 13 years of age and attempted 3 suicides with 3 hospitalizations and one partial program. I am 18 yrs of age.

My question is this; Why am I having delayed reactions to pain? Way before I started cutting I had serious cuts but I never felt the pain. Once when I was seven, I had to get stitches but I didn't feel the foot being cut then. Ever since then I never really felt enough pain, meaning I never felt anything at all when I get hurt. I cut because I like getting the frustration out, but I never felt the pain from cutting. Is this bad to have? What should I do about it?
