Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Diarrhea And Abdominal Pain After Treatment Of Typhoid?
I have taken treatment of typhoid fever by 400mg cefixime twice daily for seven days. Now after fifteen days later I am feeling the previous symptom like diarrhea, slide abdomen pain fatigue, short breath with low level temperature. What should I do. Please help me out. All the best...
hello, I can understand your concern for your symptoms. 1) history of diarrhea and abdominal pain in second week of typhoid fever might be due to typhoid enteritis. 2) person develop inflammation (redness and swelling) in last part of small intestine due to thyphoid bacteria. Sometimes this might lead to ulcer formation 3) having takentab Cefixime warrants use of injectable therapy for recent episodes of symptoms. 4) I would recommend you to consult a general surgeon with necessary further evaluation in form of USG abdomen or CT scan abdomen with repeat test for thyphoid bacteria.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you. Have a nice day!
