What Causes Diarrhea And Leg Pain While Having Medium-chain Acyl-coenzyme Deficiency?

I have a 8 year old with MCAD. He has a fever, sore throat, and diarrhea. He is also complaining of major leg pain in just one of his lower legs. We had it xrayed because he cannot put any pressure on it, but it did not show a break. Would this in anyway be related to his metabolic condition during an acute illness? His bloodwork showed an elevated white blood count.
