What Causes Diarrhea Post A Laparoscopic Appendectomy?
Hello! A week ago I had a laparoscopic appendectomy. A day after the operation I got home. Since then I have had a strong diarrhea and today I noticed that my stool is bright yellow. The doctor didn t give me a prescription for antibiotics, so I haven t taken any of these. Five last days I have taken probiotics, but seems that it isn t getting any better. Also I haven t got much of an appetite. Is that something I should worry about?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Since appendectomy has been done just a week back you must have received antibiotics and metronidazole. These cn disturbed the microflora of intestines. Another reason can be you have consumed unusual foods and fluids that do not suit you. Possibility of local or pelvic abscess is to be ruled out. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get review by your Surgeon. Insist for ultrasonography. Tests of stool, urine and blood. Add probiotics along with probiotics. Take only those goods and beverages that suit you in past.
