I have Parkinsons disease I was diagnosed 10 years ago. I am now 73. In the last week I have battled diarrhea which won t stop I am scared to leave the house now. I take Sinimet, and Pramepexolem. I have taken these for some years and didn t have the bowel problem. I recently added omeprazole May be three months ago. Just about 10 days ago I started with diarrhea I have been taking 4-5 doses a day. of across the counter bowel medicine Is there a better way to treat this?? I am afraid to go out for fear I will need a bathroom.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As omeprazole is taking for three months, diarrhea is not a side effect of the same. Possibly an intestine infection through some sort of bacteria or virus is the most likely culprit. Against over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, we recommend to visit your family doctor and get a prescription of gastrointestinal-specific antibiotic with anti-diarrhea agents as racecadotril or else.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
