Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 7yr old daughter started having diarrhea this past Tuesday. She does have any other symptoms, no cramps, fever or vomiting. Four days later my 3yr old son started to have diarrhea as well but his seems to have a sand like substance to it. It is chocolate brown and does not smell too aweful like rotovirus does. Any ideas what could be causing this?
hello, I can understand your concern for your symptoms. 1) persistent burping since long time might indicate abnormal stomach movement. 2) Most common cause for this is hiatus hernia. 3) This is a condition in which upper part of stomach herniate into chest through diaphragm. 4) You might have experienced symptoms that f reflux with burning pain in chest or upper abdomen, burping, nausea in which you should take prokinetic group of medication to improve stomach movement and anti-acidity medication to reduce symptoms related to reflux. 5) This condition can be confirmed with upper GI endoscopy. 6) Surgery for hiatus hernia can be recommended only if person has no improvement with medical treatment.
Hope I answered your question. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you. Have a nice day!
