What Causes Diarrhea With Grainy Stools, Pain And Bloating In Stomach?

I am having diarrhea that is grainy, almost as if there is sand in it. I has a colonoscopy about a month and a half ago for bloody diarrhea stool and it was determined I had internal hemorrhoids. I was on cipro and another antibiotic that began with an m that did nothing for the diarrhea. I have constant gas pain and bloating. I am to see a gastro dr on Monday. Should there be anything specific I ask about?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of having colonoscopy about a month and half ago for diarrhea and also tool Cipro and seemingly metronidazole. But no relief.
Now have a problem of grainy stools as if have sand in stool, constant gas and pain and bloating.Wants to know what specific to ask the Gastro Doctor on Monday.
The causes can be intolerance to certain components of food.
Bacterial flora disturbance .
Colitis but excluded by colonoscopy/
IBS- irritable bowel syndrome.

I would advise you the following which you should ask and discuss with your Gastro Doctor.
- Tests of stool on three consecutive days.
- Tests of blood - routine and for liver and thyroid functions
- Ultrasound of the whole abdomen and CT scan if any positive finding.
Clinical evaluation along with the reports of all these will decide the cause of the problems or rule out a particular problem.
