Hi,
Noted the history about your wife having has similar problem 2 months ago wherein the Doctor prescribed B-complex and got well but again developed the similar problem with difference in texture of skin/mucus membrane of buccal mucosa and throat.
The commonest causes I can think about are one of the following:
Stomatitis in which the integrity of oral mucosa is lost.
Lichen planus is an
autoimmune disease.
Associated colitis or so should be searched for and treated if found.
I would advise such patients the following:
Well, B-complex, multivitamins, mineral and trace elements with some anti-oxidants like Lycopene need to be started and continued.
Send samples of blood for CBC, sugar, liver functions, vitamins and mineral.
Stool tests.
Examination by an ENT Surgeon helps in better diagnosis and proper management.
once the cause is found treatment can be specific and effective.
IF Lichen planus or such things are diagnosed then it is needed to take a
second opinion of a
Dermatologist or
Rheumatologist for proper evaluation and treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General and ENT Surgeon
