What Causes Difficulty Breathing After Having Rimstar?
My girlfriend in the Philippines is taking Rimstar at the request of a Pulmonary Specialist due to a small spot on her chest x ray they are calling a scar . This is supposed to be a preventative measure for TB. She is experiencing severe rash and some difficulty in breathing. She has been taking it for about a month now. Is the rash and difficulty breathing from taking the Rimstar? Other symptoms have been dizziness and bad headaches.
Hi welcome to hcm I understand your query and concern. Yes definitely it could be a side effect of her drugs. These drugs(a combination of 4 drugs) cause varied side effects like nausea, vomiting ,headache, dizziness ,reddish discolouration, orange discolouration of urine ,jaundice, constipation etc.So do not worry..Don't stop the medication until her doctor advises.Symptomatic treatment like low dose steroidal sprays and analgesics to relieve her headaches.I advise her to get a Chest x ray, sputum for AFB,complete blood picture once the course completes to look for improvement.Maintain hygienic conditions.Avoid going to crowded places. Consult your cardiologist for expert management. Post your further queries if any, Thank you.
