What Causes Difficulty In Breathing?

i had a medical abortion about 2.5 weeks ago, and about 2 days after i took the 2nd pill i noticed it became difficult for me to breath. i am very short on breath and am very fatigued, its also hard to sleep and i do not feel well rested when i wake up. i went to my doctor and my oxygen levels were very low. i was 86 then after walking for about 40 seconds my level was 76. my doctor couldnt believe it so we did it again and i started at 77 and my level then dropped to 66 after walking for under a minute. i had a ct scan and he said it was normal also my lungs sounded clear. my blood work showed i am not anemic. any ideas as to what it could be? i m trying not to become anxious however its hard not to be. I am to the point where I am yawning just to get a full breath of air.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history and description, we should definitely rule out pulmonary embolism (PE) for your symptoms.

Pulmonary embolism is known complication of medical abortion pills. And your fall in oxygen saturation on walking also suggests PE.

For the diagnosis of PE, you need special CT scan known as CT pulmonary angiography. So, meet your pulmonologist again and ask for CT pulmonary angiography.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
