What Causes Difficulty In Eating And Swallowing?

I was diagnosed with silent acid reflux (LPR) approx 5 years ago. Now for the last few months I m having trouble eating and swallowing - the feeling of food getting stuck, having vomited to get it out, some pain and feeling like I m swallowing too much . Should I be worried?

Hello,
Thank you for asking your question at healthcare magic

Since you have been having silent reflux for almost 5 years now, there is possibility of developing complications from it.
Long term reflux of acid into esophagus can result in stricture(narrowing) of esophagus resulting in difficulty swallowing, vomiting etc.
Other complications like barrets esophagus which can eventually lead to cancer should also be ruled out.
You will need investigations like barium swallow and endoscopy to find out the cause of obstruction.
I recommend that you consult your doctor as soon as possible to get further evaluation done.

Hope I was able to answer your question.
Please feel free to address any more concerns
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
