What Causes Difficulty In Remembering Sentences Long After A Head And Neck Injury?

Hello Doctor, I have had several minor accidents over the last few years and usually have hit my head or hurt my neck/back during them. I have terrible headaches almost daily, I am having a lot of difficulty completing sentences and remembering what I was going to say and it seems to be getting worse. My Doctor put me on an anti-depressant and that helped a little but not for long. Is there a test that I should be looking at doing?

Hello,

Your symptoms could be related to repeated head trauma. Coming to this point, I would recommend performing some cognitive tests and a brain MRI.

Other tests to consider would be: complete blood count, thyroid hormone levels, blood electrolytes, vitamin D and vitamin E plasma levels, and vitamin B12 plasma levels.

You should discuss with your doctor on these tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aida Quka
