Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am an 87 year old male. Recently my urine stream diminished to nearly half of it's pressure. I have no trouble starting a urination, in fact there is more urgency than before. I am not bothered with frequency, and I do get up once most nights early morning depending on the amount of liquids I have consumed later in the day. I can still stop my stream mid way, although it takes more time and effort. I had surgery for Prostenitis in 1999 resulting in removal of a portion of my prostate. I have no pain or discomfort while urinating.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Since only a part of your Prostate was removed earlier, there are chances that the rest of the Prostate can enlarge or hypertrophy contributing to your symptoms.
Please be advised to follow-up with your primary care provider for further evaluation and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
