What Causes Difficulty In Urinating?

Hi, About 2 weeks ago I started to feel constipated, and a week or so after that I found myself having more difficulty peeing.

On Monday I started to get a high fever and a pounding headache so I went to an out of hours GP, and they prescribed me laxatives because the issue could be a buildup which puts pressure on the bladder.

I've had several productive bowel movements since, however I still find myself unable to pee unless I'm essentially on the verge of bursting. I can occasionally push to get just a few drops out, but I can never maintain that flow.

I went to the doctors again, and they wanted a urine sample which I managed to produce (after about an hour!)
However, nothing was found from the sample.

When I first start trying to pee, it feels like I'm about to - the buildup feeling starts, but then just as a urine flow should begin, it halts.

Furthermore, when managing to pee or ejaculating - it often burns while fluid comes out.

This is getting quite infuriating as I can't even pee until about 4 hours after I get out of bed!

For context, I'm a 19 year old male. I hope you can help me with this!

Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

With the history you are giving, it suggests in favor of a urinary bladder stone. In patient with urinary bladder stones will develop symptoms similar to mentioned. Kindly get a ultrasound abdomen and pelvis (kidney ureter and bladder KUB) which will help in knowing about it and meet a urologist for further management.

Hope have answered your query. Good luck and let us know what happened.
