What Causes Difficulty In Walking Despite A Normal MRI Report?

I am a 55 year old female with some back issues for over ten years now. Arthritis in my spine. I just came from my doctor s office after looking at MRI s of my entire spine. No issues with that however he is referring me to a neurologist. I have trouble walking, once i stand it takes me a few minutes to get my balance. Then I shuffle. Then it gets easier to walk but still painful. He thinks my issues may be coming from my brain not sending the messages to my legs to walk. Can you give me any ideas on what I may be suffering from?? Any ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult a neurologist and get evaluated. It might be due to minor nerve contusion which may not be visible in MRI. Physiotherapy can help you a bit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
