What Causes Difficulty Standing And Bloated Stomach Despite Having Colon Cancer?
Mother-in-law has stage four colon cancer 75% removal of liver in operable spots in lungs full hysterectomy and colon resection currently on stivarga one pill a day but is complaining of pain when standing and stomach is extremely swollen what could be the problems here she has had colon cancer for over two years also is on the 50 mg hr Tremidol patch what could be causing the pain when standing and swollen stomach also is on water pills to help with urination but swelling doesn t go down and pain gets worse every day
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your Mother in law, stage IV colon cancer, operated, liver, uterus and colon removed and on medications like Stivarga, Tramadol patch and water pills. But the distension of the abdomen and pain in abdomen continues. The most probable cause is usually intestinal obstruction. I would advise in such a case the following: X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. Ultrasonography to start with and if required CT scan of the abdomen. She may need a conservative treatment for 3 days and if no relief, needs surgery.
