What Causes Difficulty Swallowing Along With Painful Swollen Lymph Glands?
Hello, I m a 57 year old female. I woke up with pain under my ear inside my lymph glands possibly. It hurts to swallow, not sore throat pain but a swollen glandular pain. I have no tonsils. When I stick out my tongue, my glands hurt. However, I can t feel any swelling on the outside of my throat. No fever, just discomfort when I swallow and talk. Odd... and the inner eutstacian tube feels somehow affected. Thoughts? I tried putting a heat pack on it, but didn t help.
Hello. From your symptoms it appears that you might be having a condition called Elongated styloids- it causes sharp pain during swallowing , pain with tongue movements , pain radiating to ears etc. The diagnosis is made after a clinical examination and suitable radiological investigations. The second thing to consider is an enlarged parotid gland ( due to various reasons ). An ENT clinical examination should confirm the diagnosis and will help in management.
