Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Difficulty Walking After Surgery To Remove Bladder Tumors?
My mother is 90 & had surgery almost 2 days ago to remove bladder tumors. She had a spinal rather than a general anesthetic and tolerated the surgery well. She s home now but very shaky & not really able to walk much or support her weight. Hands also a little shaky. What would cause this?
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. She recently had a major surgery which was very stressful for her. 2. Severe stress is known to affect cognition, and this has led to deterioration in her managing her usual activities. 3. Will require physiotherapy and family support. 4. Improvement would take around 4-6 months and could be slow. Nutrition with protein rich diet is also necessary. Caretaker needed for a month or two fulltime. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
