Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had surgery on my ankle and the doctor forgot to remove two Staples. The incision looks open again, and it was oozing yellowish green slime and it smelled like something died. I went to the er they removed the staples said it looked fine and rushed me out in 10 minutes because they were in a hurry. I need a second opinion because I believe it is infected.
Hi Welcome to healhcaremagic After going through your query I concluded that you are having discharge of pus from the wound of your ankle surgery. I think it may be two staples left as they cause foreign body reaction. These has been removed in emergency room. Now if discharge of pus continues then you need to get its culture and sensitivity of pus done. Antibiotics may be tried depending on culture and sensitivity of pus. You can discuss your doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
