Have not had an injury to my eye but noticed today that I have a bruise (dark purplish)/discoloration on the inner aspect (near nose) of the top eyelid. Does not hurt. Is there some sort of medical condition that could cause something like this? Do I need to see my doctor (either eye or medical)?
you need to see eye doctor for local examination. it can be drug sensitivity or allergy. but all these should be bilateral.so let it be examined and correctly diagnosed so that proper treatment can be recomanded.
Welcome to HCM portal. This can be a sub cutaneous bleed. If there is no history of injury such spots can always be drug induced .Pain killers like aspirin cause it,but in such situations should also be elsewhere on the body.If that is so then this will resolve in 2 to 3 weeks time.Next possibility is pigmentary disturbances ,these do not resolve easily.
