What Causes Discomfort And Pain In Prominentia Laryngea In A Hypothyroidic Patient?
Hello, In the last 2 days I started having a light discomfort/pain in my adam`s apple, to be more precise if I touch right under my adam`s apple it hurts a little and it feels a little swollen. To better evaluate the situation I have to disclose that I suffer from Ipotyroidism and I take every morning 50 micrograms of Eutirox; however in the last 3 months I lost roughly 40 pounds due to diet and exercise. Could it be that my Eutirox dose is now to high and it`s causing the above mentioned symptoms? thank you in advance M.M.
I have gone carefully through your report and I can understand your query. You mentioned that you are diagnosed with hypothyroidism and are under treatment, but the problem that you report now has not to do with the above pathology. It is probably a thyroid nodule that should be confirmed with an ultrasound examination. It can verify if the nodule that you palpate is within the thyroid gland or not and gives further details about it (the dimensions and other characteristics). About the dose of euthyrox It can't be a cause of your problem but I would suggest to check the thyroid hormones to see if the dose you are taking is the right one. Hope the information will help.
Best wishes, Dr.M.Guni
