What Causes Discomfort On Upper Left Quadrant Of The Body?

I have been feeling discomfort on my upper left quadrant of my body below my rib cage . At first it wa s a slight pain but as days passes on its getting worse. I pass gas and burp but the discomfort is still there. I could feel a hard lump on the side but it travels to the middle part specially after standing for long periods.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Your symptoms could be due to pancreatitis, stone and infection of the left kidney, splenic abscess, left costochondritis, gastric origin.
I would suggest to consult the gastrosurgeon and undergo investigations like
CBC, ESR, amylase, USG scan of the abdomen, chest Xray, urine tests.
For pain you can take tablet ibuprufen
Take rest and drink plenty of fluid.
But main treatment will depend on the specific cause.
Hope this may help you
