What Causes Discomfort Throat After Choking While Eating Food?
I was walking home late at night while eating skittles. I choked on a few and coughed them out but I had the odd feeling one went down the wrong tube and into a lung. I know its hard to believe but its been 12 hours and I feel uncomfortable but im not sure if my mind is fabricating it or its actually in there. I want to believe I'm just thinking to much about it and that my discomfort is from the stress I have put on myself and possibly from the choking last night. My heart rate was through the roof for over an hour last night no matter how much I tried to calm myself. I have coughed a bit lately but Im waiting for more symptoms or too seem if they leave because I don't want to make a pointless trip to the doctors. So how long would it take before It started to be noticeably bad? I do feel an odd feeling in my chest but i basically had a panic attack from what I believe and am blaming it on that cause I don't want to believe that could have happened.
Hello there, I can understand your concern. What you are experiencing is normal as with the little choking episode you have irritated your wind pipe and so the symptoms. However it seems unlikely that you have anything stuck deep in the wind pipe or lung. Calm down and you may find relief. Try taking some steam inhalations and deep breathing to allow your body to settle. If you still feel any discomfort then get an X ray of the chest which will settle all doubts. If it were stuck in your lung then it wouldn't take time for you to feel severely breathless and choking sensation again. Hope this helps. Take care.
