What Causes Discomfort While Breathing At Night?

Had recent blood clots in the lower lungs and pneumonia from having a knee scope done 5 days earlier. In the hospital 6 days and now on coumadin. My question is I have this rubbing feeling on the inside of my right lung (I did have more clots on the right side) sometimes when I breath. The dull rubbing like pain occurs mostly when I lay down at night. Enough to wake me. When I went to the ER I was in terrible pain mainly in my back and could not lay down because of the pain and couldn t breath. I want to know what the rubbing feeling is from.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The rubbing feeling while lying down at night is due to spasm of bronchi from residual pneumonia effect. In our clinic, we recommend semi-reclining position, bronchodilator medicines, precise antibiotic, and an analgesic which does not aggravate the bronchi spasm.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
