My mom, had a brain injury 5yrs ago falling down steps, she is always dizzy, She says when she lays down is the only time she doesn t feel dizzy, she does not go anywhere anymore, just wants to lay down. she wants to know is there anything she can take or do.
There are a few possibilities based on what you have described. She may have low blood pressure in which case enough blood does not enter the brain and causes dizziness. Lying down can increase this blood pressure.
She could have low blood sugar or high blood sugar which can also present this way. If she had a severe injury, then she might be getting symptoms of cranial compression or pressure in the brain which is leading to the dizziness.
I recommend that she be taken to a hospital and you get tests done. Firstly, a good test would be to check her blood pressure in standing and sitting and lying down. If that is normal, then her sugar levels can be checked. Also, the Physician may find other findings which help in the diagnosis.
If diagnosed with low blood pressure, she will be given pressors which increase the blood pressure. In high sugar, she will be given insulin or glucose reducing medication.
Hope this helps you
