Hi,

According to your description the possibilities for your dizziness are:
- Generally during pregnancy and especially after delivery decreased hemoglobin levels can be encountered due to the increased requirement of iron and blood loss during the delivery respectively.
- Glucose tolerance can also be changed during the pregnancy that can continue during the postpartum period sometimes.
- In women with pregnancy induced hypertension or pre-eclampsia, headache, dizziness, increased blood pressure, etc., symptoms can be seen, which can continue during the postpartum period also.
- Rarely cardiological and neurological problems can also lead to these types of symptoms.

To find out the possible cause, you may need to undergo investigations like complete blood picture, coagulate profile, blood sugar levels, renal function tests, urine routine and microscopy. If your doctor suggests ECG and EEG. With this work up the possible cause of the problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly. Generally, also iron and calcium supplements are to be taken for 3 months of postpartum to prevent postpartum anemia and mineral loss from bones.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
